Kilwardby House 6 - 8 Kilwardby Street Ashby De La Zouch Leicestershire LE65 2FU Minutes: The Chairman advised that items A1 and A2 would be considered together but would be voted on separately.
The Senior Planning Officer presented the reports to members.
Mr D Harris-Watkins, agent, addressed the committee highlighting that numerous amendments had been made and all requested additional information had been provided, that independent specialists had confirmed that apartments would be the optimal alternative use for the building and that the proposed development would improve the external appearance of the building. It was noted that the Conservation officer’s concerns were around the internal works, but the works proposed in the application would be character appropriate and protect the significance of the heritage asset.
The Chairman read out a brief statement from the ward member, Councillor J Hoult, which supported both of the applications.
In determining the application members fully endorsed the comments of the Ward Member, as the scheme before them would restore the building to its former glory and enhance the street scene. Officers were asked to send a note to LCC Highways requesting them to look at the installation of a pedestrian crossing in the area at the bottom of Kilwardby Street.
The recommendation to permit the application in accordance with the officer’s recommendation was moved by Councillor J Legrys and seconded by Councillor D Everitt and
The Chairman put the motion to the vote. A recorded vote being required, the voting was as detailed below.
RESOLVED THAT:
The application be permitted in accordance with the recommendation of the Head of Planning and Infrastructure.
