Decision details
Farmers Market in Stanton under Bardon
Decision Maker: Director of Resources
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
allow Famers market in Stanton under Bardon
for up to 4 times per annum
Reasons for the decision:
Stanton under Bardon Village Hall Trust are
proposing to hold a Farmers Market 3 or 4 times per annum but it
lies within the 6 2/3 miles radius of Coalville Market Hall. As it
would only be 3 or 4 times a year any impact on Coalville market is
going to be very limited (if at all). Furthermore, the proposed
operator is a charity and so there is a potential for adverse
publicity in the event that the request was refused. In addition,
the Council have positively supported and promoted the
establishment of a farmer market in Ashby which is probably about
the same distance as Stanton. In agreeing the request a time limit
of one year has been imposed in order that any impact can be
assessed.
