Decision:
Decision to make the Ashby Neighbourhood Plan
Review following a positive result in the Neighbourhood Plan
referendum held on 20 November 2025.
Reasons for the decision:
In a referendum covering the Ashby de la Zouch
Neighbourhood Plan area on 20 November 2025, 83% of those who voted
supported the proposal that the Neighbourhood Plan Review be used
to help determine planning applications within the plan area.
The Ashby Neighbourhood Plan Review meets the Basic Conditions and
its preparation process has been compliant with legal and
procedural requirements. Paragraph 38A(4)(a) of the Planning and
Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 requires the Council to make the
Neighbourhood Plan if more than half of those voting in the
referendum have voted in favour of the Plan being used to help
decide planning applications in the area.
Alternative options considered:
The council has to decide whether to 'make'
the plan following the Referendum on 20 November 2025. Such a
decision has to be made within 8 weeks of the referendum.
